Say hello to Egyptian Cotton!
Sleep matters, we all know it. If you’re thinking that your bedding material doesn’t matter, try thinking about it in this way: you spend a third of your life in bed (approx 8hrs a night) wearing your bedsheets. Most luxury hotels use Egyptian cotton bedding due to its properties that make it the best cotton in the world and its durability. This material can maintain a fresh crispy feeling for a long time even after many washes.
So what is the truth about Egyptian Cotton - fine fabric or marketing drill?
Egyptian cotton is in-fact one of the most luxurious and hardwearing materials on the market which might cost a bit more than your standard supermarket bedding set, but the quality you’ll receive in return is amazing.
As well as being incredibly durable and gloriously soft, Egyptian cotton does not produce as much lint as other cottons meaning that this fabric is far less likely to “pill” when it is washed repeatedly, becomes softer with age and is much lighter than other cottons. It’s refreshingly breathable during hot summer months and fabrics which have higher thread counts are also insulating during winter.
....so while pure Egyptian cotton fabric may be more expensive, it is actually likely to offer better value for money. It will last far longer than inferior cottons. It is definitely not the product of advertising or marketing strategies - it’s known as the best cotton there is for very good reasons indeed.
